Licensed in law and philosophy. She graduated Faculty of Law, Ecological University of Bucharest in 1994 and obtained the law degree at the Al. I. Cuza University in Iași in February 1996. Between 1992-1997 she attended the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Bucharest and between 1997-1998 she obtained her master’s degree at Central European University, Department of Political Sciences in Budapest, Hungary. Raluca Prună is a lawyer and has over 20 years of experience in the field of justice, including at the level of the European Union institutions. Prior to her appointment as Minister of Justice, she held the position of Coordinating Advisor withing the Directorate-General for Internal Market. Since 2007 she held various positions in the European Commission: lawyer and program coordinator at the Directorate-General for Justice, Freedom and Security, official responsible for the polities against organized crime at the Directorate-General for Internal Affairs.
